Judge Vladlen Vereshchetin

Judge Vladlen Stepanovich Vereshchetin served as member of the International Court of Justice between 1995 and 2006. Prior to his election, he was a member and chairman of the International Law Commission as well as Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. Professor Vereshchetin also served as Deputy Director and Head of the International Law Department of the Institute of State and Law at the Russian Academy of Science in Moscow and served as a delegate to the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and its Legal Subcommittee. Further, Professor Vereshchetin acts as an Honorary Director of the International Institute of Space Law. He studied international law at the Moscow Institute of International Relations. He delivered lectures on the theory of international law, the peaceful settlement of international disputes, the law of the sea, outer space law and the law of international organizations and published more than 150 articles as well as several books in the area of international law, in particular law of outer space, international judicial settlement and the theory of international law.
